From the Cradle of the Renaissance to the Shores of the Adriatic Today we left Florence behind and began our journey north, heading toward Lido di Jesolo, a charming coastal town near Venice. Known for its wide beaches and relaxed atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to unwind before diving into the wonders of the lagoon. On the way, we made a special stop in Verona, the legendary city of love, where Shakespeare set the tragic story of Romeo and Juliet. We strolled through the old town, soaking in the romantic atmosphere and visiting Juliet’s famous balcony. While in Verona, we also explored the Arena, a Roman amphitheater older than the Colosseum. Though smaller in size, it’s beautifully preserved and still in use today—hosting concerts and operas in a setting that once echoed with the clash of gladiators. By late afternoon, we arrived in Lido di Jesolo, where some of us enjoyed a peaceful walk along the beach. The sea breeze and quiet coastline offered a refreshing change of pace. Tomorrow, we head to Venice.
