Day 2: June 17, 2016
Hi everyone!!
Well, here they are!! All schools arrived safe, and on time, so after collecting all luggage we made our way to our hotel, left everything in a room and took the subway to go downtown. We began by Opera square, to begin locating the station we are going to be using the most while in Madrid, and then we had some free time for lunch before heading to the Prado museum. The Prado museum is, together with the Louvre museum in Paris, one of the most important museums all along Europe. It's a classical art museum, and it holds masterpieces by Velazquez, paintor for the Spanish crown, Goya or Murillo. They loved it, although they were so tired...
Then we went up walking to Sol square, where we saw the sign indicating every road in Spain begins there, and also the clock that Madrid uses for New Year's eve. Kind of our Time's Square. Then we kept walking to Plaza Mayor, where we could see the original decoration of the buildings, which has been restored recently, went across the square to get to Mercado San Miguel, St Michael's Market, done by artists following Mr Eiffel's style, and finally, across Mayor street to get to our restaurant for dinner! We were there ahead of time, but the group was so tired that the guys at the restaurant didn't mind having us waiting in the table!!
Right after dinner, straight back to the hotel, no more energy!!! And now, everybody sleeping and getting ready for sightseeing in Madrid tomorrow!! Sleep well guys!!
