What a busy day! After travelling across the Atlantic through the night, I was happy to welcome a ‘Wall of Pink’ (T-shirts), as you emerged from Customs. A coach ride to our hotel, and then off we went on the Tube into centralLondon! Starting at Piccadilly Circus, we then walked to the Royal Academy of Arts, to learn that the visiting ‘First Supper’ exhibition had ended but we were able to catch the ‘Last Supper’ by an associate of Da Vinci, before stopping at a street food market, in a church courtyard, where we sampled international fare. Yum! It was really quite warm and sunny, so some finished off with an Italian ice cream. We then wandered down to Leicester Square, the home of British film premières, and statues of not only William Shakespeare but also Mary Poppins, Harry Potter, Mr Bean and Paddington the Bear! We walked through the streets of Soho, and past Chinatown, to Covent Garden. A former fruit and vegetable market, it now houses a vibrant hub of cafés, restaurants, boutiques and souvenir shops.A bit of time to ‘chillax’! We then hit the Tube again, for our fish’n’chips supper, adding salt and vinegar, and some trying tartare sauce. The sun continued to shine on us, as we made our last journey of the day, heading back to our hotel in the suburbs, on the Tube. More of London to discover tomorrow… after a well-deserved sleep! Night!
