Day 10: July 4, 2024
Off through stunning landscapes, driving alongside rivers and streams, and following winding roads up into the mountains and the clouds and back down again, we made our way down to the stunning town of Lucerne, at the head of the Lake of the same name. We marvelled at the giant Lucerne Lion, carved into a rock face, and bought souvenirs, including personalised, engraved Swiss Army Knives, before making our way to the pier, where we boarded our boat for just over an hour's cruise across the lake, to the foot of Mount Pilatus, at Alpnachstad. Taking the funicular railway up to the top, we then had an opportunity to climb to one or other of two peaks, each marked with a cross, and to spend a few hours marvelling at the spectacular views of the Emmental Alps. Descending by cable car to Kriens, we travelled on towards Zurich, and our restaurant and hotel for our last night in Switzerland. What an incredible day!
