Day 13: June 22, 2019
Today our incredible guide, Corinna Croft, came to take us into London for a sight seeing tour on a coach. She was extremely knowledgeable and very outspoken in her posh British accent, which made us laugh!
She acts in her spare time and she really put on a wonderful performance!
She explained what we were seeing and the history behind it and funny anecdotes as we meandered through all the main central parts of London.
We saw Big Ben, the parliament buildings, the Thames, the famous landmarks like the walkie talkie, the cheese grater, the shard, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square with Lord Nelson's column, etc.
We saw the end of the changing of the guards at Buckingham palace and watched the Gurkha soldiers march away very close up.
The we dropped the Smith group off for their Oxford visit and the Pennypacker group at Westminster Abbey.
Then the Walls group and I went with Corinna to Windsor Castle, which we visited for about 2 hours.
We had lunch in the town before going to the castle itself.
The queen was in residence as it was Royal Ascot week and the road were very busy. This is her country home where she comes to most weekends when she is working during the week, living at Buckingham Palace. We then drove back into London and then made our way by tube to Tower Bridge.
We all met up for dinner by Tower Bridge and on the side of the River Thames.
We had a curry supper and Dim T then and made our way back to the hotel by tube.
