Day 4: July 12, 2014
Bonjour!
A very early wake up call this morning......to catch the fast TGV train to the south......
After the challenge of getting on the train.....nearly three hours to sit back and relax......once in the Provence region.....the blue sky, sunshine....and Fabio(our italian driver)welcomed us!
How beautiful!
First of all we went to the 2000 years old Roman Aquedoct at Pont du Gard.
Built in order to bring water to the city of Nimes(30 miles away), today it is very imptessive and was made a Unesco site.It was really impressive to view such engineering work.....with 2000 years of history!
On the way to the hotel we stopped to visit Avignon.the theatre festival is on right now(since 1947), and that made our visit very exciting!lot's of street performers and actors promiting their theatre show...how fun!
The highlight of Avignon is the Pope's Palace, built in the 14th century.Infact, the Papacy had moved gere from Rome between 1309 and 1368.
We loved this day in Provence...and the arrival at our resort was incredibly beautiful!
In the middle of the Alpilles...
wow!
