Our first day in New York was terrific! We landed under a crystal-clear blue sky and headed into Manhattan, where our first stop was the majestic Grand Central Station. We enjoyed the beauty of the country's busiest train station, then headed downstairs for lunch. Next up, we walked west on 42nd Street to the grand New York Public Library. From there, we strolled up 5th Avenue, stopping to admire the Diamond District, St. Patrick's Cathedral and Trump Tower, plus all the sites and shops in between. We ended up at 59th Street and 5th Avenue, where we visited FAO Schwarz, the world's biggest toy store, and the 24-hour Apple store, as well as the historic Plaza Hotel. We headed back down 5th Avenue, and after dinner, we zoomed up to the top of the iconic Empire State Building as the sun began to set, a truly magnificent end to a busy and fascinating day.
