Best of Spain

It’s been a long day, but as all the others, very interesting too. We left Barcelona and drove thru the inner province of Lleida till we finally left Catalonia and entered the community of Aragon. We stopped shortly in Zaragoza, just for a quick visit to its Basilica, dedicated to Our Lady of El Pilar, Spain’s patroness saint, and for lunch. It was a very impressive basilica and very nice city too. After lunch we continued our drive thru this northern region of Spain and eventually we left it and entered the community of Navarra and its capital Pamplona, the city immortalized by Hemingway, where the internationally famous festival of the bulls' running takes place every year in early July. We walked along Estafeta street, following the trace of the bulls until the city’s bullring. After a short time to shop a few souvenirs, we continued our drive. We reached our hotel in the outskirts of Bilbao, settled down and had our dinner in the hotel’s restaurant. We went to bed as we were a bit tired and looking forward to seeing the Guggenheim museum and San Sebastian.
