Day 7: June 22, 2014
Today some of the students and teachers decided to join an excursion to Gibraltar. We drove along the Costa del Sol down towards the port of Algeciras and we saw some of the beach resorts along the way, like Fuengirola, Marbella, among others. We also saw some of the golf courses and the buildings erected along the coast line. We arrived in Gibraltar, and after going thru passport control we got to the coach terminus and changed buses and started with the tour of the rock. We went thru the different tunnels built in the rock. We stopped in a view loin to enjoy views of the bay; as it was such a clear day today, we could see Africa! It really was so close, only a few miles. We also visited St Michael’s cave, another very interesting spot on the rock. We then moved on to see the monkeys. We only saw a few but we still took a few pictures… We then finished the visit by the main square and main street. We had some time for lunch and most of us tried the popular "fish and chips"….Most of the shops were closed as it was Sunday, so we saved money!!!! After that, we drove back to Spain and to our hotel in the Costa del Sol. Had time to go back to the beach and to shop for a while. We had dinner and went out for a walk before going back to the hotel to pack. It’s been a good way to put an end to our stay in the Costa del Sol, which we have enjoyed so much.
Stacey's group spent the day at the resort, as well as Rene and Erin and Lori and a few others.
