Best of Spain

We have also enjoyed our day today so much. We started with our city tour of Seville so we drove to the city and Rolando gave us an introduction to Seville by telling us about the pavilions built for the 1929 Ibero-American fair that took place in the city. We drove around that area and stopped at Plaza de Espana, which was the pavilion for Spain, a huge and beautiful building with bricks and tiles, in which all the Spanish provinces are represented. We then moved on to downtown and stopped to start our walk along the narrow alleyways of the former Jewish district or Barrio de Santa Cruz, where we saw its pretty white washed houses decorated with plants and flowers and some nice patios, among other things and places of interest. Then we went on to visit the Alcazar, former Royal fortress, so interesting as well, with its typical Moorish architecture. After that, we went to visit the city’s cathedral, another jewel of this city, so impressive. Among other important things, we saw its main altar piece, just awesome, and the burial place of Christopher Columbus. At the end, most of us went up to the top of the bell tower from where we could enjoy great views of the whole city. The afternoon was free for us, which we really appreciated, as we could be at our own pace. We had time for lunch and then most of us shopped for a while! At the end of the afternoon we got together again and went to the hotel, where we could relax for a while. In the early evening we went to enjoy a very nice Flamenco show, which tells us a lot about the rhythm and soul of Spain. It was very interesting too. We returned to our hotel on time for dinner. It was a very interesting and enjoyable day in many ways, and we have all liked Seville so much.
