Bonjour! And......another great day in Provence...... We started with a lovely walking tour of Arles.Founded by the Romans on the river Rhone, it was used as abase to attack the neighbour city of Marseille, through the Delta of the River. We visited the Cloister of the main Cathedral, the Roman Amphitheatre from 50BC and the Arena from 1st AD. We also walked pass the CAFE DE LA NUIT, where Vincent Van Gogh painted that famous painting. he lived in Arles for a couple of years. By lunch time we were ready to move into the beautiful protected area of Camargue, in the delta of the Rhone river.it is in Camargue that we find pink flamimgos, bulls, and a special breed of horse. We had time in Ste Marie de la Mer, by the beach.....then went on a horseback ride. We got back to hotel and a free evening in Arles for dinner. What a great day we had!
