Bonjour! Another beautiful summer day in the south of France. We left Nice early this morning and drove west towards Provence. our first stop was in Aix-en Provence. Founded by the Romans, as a town with natural water springs, it later became the capital city of the indipendent County of Provence, until the 15th century. A local guide took us through the heart of the town.we saw the main square with its beautiful townhall, the Cathedral of St. Saveur, the fruits and vegetables market, and also got to taste some local olive oil. After lunch we visited the studio of the impressionist painter Cezanne.he was from Aix, and spent most of his life here........it is in this studio that he spent the last few years of his life. we all enjoyed this visit..... We then continued our drive to Arles, where we checked in at the hotel, relaxed and had dinner. What a lovely day! Elena
