Details: TeamLab Planets visit
TeamLab Planets is a museum comprised of 4 large-scale artwork spaces and 2 gardens created by art collective teamLab. Visitors go barefoot and immerse themselves in the vast artworks together with others. The artworks change under the presence of people, blurring the perception of boundaries between the self and the works. Other people also create change in the artworks, blurring the boundaries between themselves and the works, and creating a continuity between the self, the art, and others.

View the Meiji Shrine, dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. Emperor Meiji was the first emperor of modern Japan, born in 1852 and ascending to the throne in 1868 at the peak of the Meiji Restoration when the power was switched from the feudal Tokugawa government to the emperor.

Details: Todai-ji temple visit (time permitting)
Todai-ji is one of Japan's most famous and historically significant temples and a landmark of Nara. The massive building houses one of Japan's largest bronze statues of Buddha (Daibutsu). At 15 meters tall, the seated Buddha represents Vairocana and is flanked by two Bodhisattvas.
Details: Okonomiyaki dinner
Make your very own Japanese meal! Fry your crispy and savory cabbage pancake; top it with mayonnaise, Okonomiyaki sauce, which is like Worcestershire sauce, and meat, shrimp or octopus. Then sprinkle it with fish flakes and aornori, or dried seaweed, to make this the most interesting pancake you’ll ever eat.

derful wife, Hiromi, and their children, Noah and Amélie.
Professionally, Mr. Boutin-Maloney is a distinguished educator with over 23 years of experience and currently teaches at Bert Fox Community High Schoo
l in Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan. He is a passionate advocate for cross-cultural understanding, environmental sustainability, and reconciliation in
education, and is committed to fostering inclusive, hands-on learning that empowers youth to become engaged global citizens. He is the recipient of th
e Governor General’s History Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Bank of Canada Museum’s Award for Excellence in Teaching Economics, and was recentl
y honoured with the 2025 Saskatchewan Council for International Cooperation’s Global Citizen – Lifetime Achievement Award.
His longstanding contributions to the community include serving as president of the Regina Japanese Culture Club Inc., committee work with the Nationa
l Association of Japanese Canadians, and co-founding the Regina-Fujioka Friendship Committee (RAFFCOM) which helped formalize a Friendship Agreement b
etween the two cities in 2019. He also played a key role in founding Regina Hibiki Taiko, Regina’s Japanese traditional drumming group, and launched a
n International Children’s Book Exchange between Regina and Fujioka to promote intercultural and language learning in both communities.
