\nThis course not only builds your background knowledge about the travel and tourism industries, but also it provides many opportunities to reflect on your own experiences. You\u2019ll return from your trip with hundreds of photos and memories to last a lifetime. You may even be inspired to see more of the world! But consider this: What kind of footprint did you leave during your travels? What kind of tourist were you, and what kind of tourist do you hope to become? This course will encourage you to ask deeper questions, engage in critical thinking, and discover more meaningful and longer lasting impacts on your life that you can apply to your future travels.<\/p>\n
\nI am the lead instructor for this course, and helping students succeed is at the core of every decision we make. We believe in an exercise called mastery learning for our students. What is mastery learning? Our teachers provide detailed, personalized feedback on everything students submit. Students apply teacher feedback and can resubmit work to earn grades that reflect their knowledge. We won\u2019t give you the answers (that\u2019s cheating!), but we will answer questions and provide suggestions for taking your work to the next level.<\/p>\n
\nIn Travel and Tourism: A Geographic Perspective (CGG3O), you will converse with other Explorica travellers across Ontario. In discussion boards, you can ask each other questions and build a conversation as if you were talking to each other face to face. There are opportunities to create and share video and audio projects, too. You can even have a video conference with your teachers! At the end of each unit, we hold conferences with students to discuss progress, address concerns, and prepare for upcoming material.<\/p>\n
\nTravel opens new doors in thought through experiences, introducing concepts you may not have realized were there \u2013 economics, environmentalism, tourism types, and even what travel will look like in the future. Throughout the course, you\u2019ll study and explore various parts of the globe. You\u2019ll investigate opportunities that exist for tourism in your region of Ontario, the travel policies that are in place for your travel destination, and how sustainable tourism can be implemented around the world. Who knows \u2013 you may discover a new locale to add to your travel bucket list!<\/p>\n
