There\u2019s almost <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">too much<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to see and do, so we\u2019ve narrowed it down to five adventures that you absolutely can\u2019t miss.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are five things you must experience on a trip to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.explorica.ca\/educational-tours\/australia.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Australia<\/span><\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.explorica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SNORKEL.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8640 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.explorica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SNORKEL.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"700\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see a gorgeous UNESCO World Heritage Site that\u2019s on the brink of disappearing. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.explorica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SNORKEL.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Starting from a beach or cay, take a coral reef viewing tour of the world\u2019s largest living organism. There, you\u2019ll spot breathtaking, colorful coral, six species of sea turtles, a sampling of 1,500 species of fish, and maybe even a dolphin.<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.explorica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SNORKEL.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And you should get there while you still can: Unfortunately, due to climate change, coral bleaching, and other factors, the reef has lost more than <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.com\/magazine\/2018\/08\/explore-atlas-great-barrier-reef-coral-bleaching-map-climate-change\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">half<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of its corals and is severely threatened. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The good news is that unless you touch the coral (which, by the way, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/traveltips.usatoday.com\/coral-reefs-injuries-people-63133.html\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hurts<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), snorkeling doesn\u2019t have a negative impact on it, and a donation to conservation efforts is <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gbrmpa.gov.au\/access-and-use\/environmental-management-charge\/what-are-the-charges\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">included<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in your snorkeling fee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.explorica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/ULURU.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8641 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.explorica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/ULURU.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"700\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also called Ayers Rock, Uluru is a 1,100-foot high sandstone formation\u2014though most of it is underground\u2014with a circumference of nearly six miles. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.explorica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/ULURU.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Uluru is sacred* to the Aboriginal people of the area; it even plays a role in traditional creation stories. The first European explorers of the area were Ernest Giles and William Gosse, who named the formation after Sir Henry Ayers in 1872. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.explorica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/ULURU.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today, the formation is known by both names, and hundreds of thousands of visitors flock there every year, in part due to the beautiful coloring, which changes throughout the day. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.explorica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/ULURU.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">*Note that <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-australia-44365871\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">climbing the rock is prohibited<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> due to its significance for locals, and you may also be asked not to take photos in some areas. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.explorica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/BEACH.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8642 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.explorica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/BEACH.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"700\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the most popular beaches in Australia, Bondi Beach is known for its beautiful waters (it even has a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colorhexa.com\/0095b6\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">color<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> named after it), its pristine beaches, and its use as a competition site for sports like surfing. It even served as the site for the beach volleyball competition at the 2000 Olympics. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s the perfect place to relax \u2014 and to learn the ancient Polynesian art of surfing. If you\u2019ve never surfed before, just know that it\u2019s harder than it looks, but lessons can be catered to any age or fitness level. Listen to your instructor, be patient, and have fun! This includes koalas, wallabies, red kangaroos, and endangered species such as tasmanian devils (whose population might only range in the tens of thousands, in part due to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/institute.sandiegozoo.org\/news\/tasmanian-devil-populations-continue-decline-devil-facial-tumour-disease-poses-ongoing-risk\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">disease<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) and dingoes. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.explorica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/KANGA.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is an excellent opportunity to get up close and personal with some of Australia\u2019s animals. Visitors can buy food to feed to the animals, and they can pay a little extra to take a selfie with a koala and give it a pat on the back. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.explorica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/BUY.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8644 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.explorica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/BUY.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"700\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take the perfect selfie at one of the world\u2019s most iconic landmarks, the Sydney Opera House. The building that\u2019s become synonymous with Australia\u2019s capital city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the country\u2019s most popular tourist destination. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.explorica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/BUY.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s also a sight to behold: the Opera House, actually two large concert halls and several smaller ones, is made up of a group of white shells that peak at 213 feet. Danish architect J\u00f8rn Utzon designed the expressionist buildings in 1956, submitting it for consideration in an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sydneyoperahouse.com\/our-story\/sydney-opera-house-history\/the-competition.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">international \u00a0competition<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The decision to use his design was unanimous, with the official groundbreaking happening in 1959, and the house finally opening in 1973.<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.explorica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/BUY.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today, the Opera House holds over 2,000 events and hosts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
