On June 5th\u00a0and 6th, World War II veterans and world leaders will come together in France to mark the 70th\u00a0anniversary of\u00a0D-Day.\u00a0To mark this historic event, CBC News<\/a><\/span><\/b> launches the special multiplatform project\u00a0D-DAY\u00a0LIVE<\/i><\/b>.<\/p>\n Imagine going back in time 70 years to June 6, 1944, and reliving the events of\u00a0D-Day\u00a0in real time. Using modern technology, CBC News will help you do exactly that.\u00a0CBC News will be re-creating the events of this pivotal World War II event in an interactive breaking news timeline, online and on CBC News Network, CBC Radio, and during CBC Television live special programming. If World War II had happened in a multi-media era, this is how CBC News would have covered it.<\/p>\n \u201cD-DAY\u00a0LIVE<\/i><\/b> is a modern approach for a new generation who will be able to engage with this historic event in real time using new media,\u201d said Michael Gruzuk, executive producer of CBC News Specials and Programs. \u201cD-DAY LIVE <\/i><\/b>is a truly powerful experience that should let Canadians relive D-Day as if it were unfolding on the beaches of Normandy today. We\u2019re very proud of the work we\u2019ve done, and we think Canadians will connect with this re-production of D-Day as the events unfolded.\u201d<\/p>\n To mount this unparalleled project, CBC journalists have pieced together crucial moments from archives, as well as documenting new stories, anecdotes and never-before-seen artifacts and images.
