At the centre of Nova Scotia\u2019s coat of arms is a shield. On the left side of the shield is a unicorn, which is Scotland\u2019s national animal. On the right is an Aboriginal hunter representing the local population. Centered above the shield are two joined hands, one with armour the other without. The armored hand has a sprig of laurel, meant for peace, while the naked hand has a thistle, which is Scotland\u2019s national flower.<\/p>\n<p>Nova Scotia\u2019s provincial flag has a white background with a blue satire diagonally across to each of the flag\u2019s four corners. Centered in the middle is the royal arms of Scotland, which includes a red lion on a golden field.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Study some history<br \/>\n<\/strong>Dive deep into the history of Nova Scotia and some sites you\u2019ll visit on tour. Consider visiting the 17<sup>th<\/sup> century <a href=\"https:\/\/www.novascotia.com\/see-do\/attractions\/fortress-of-louisbourg-national-historic-site\/1583\">French fortress of Louisbourg<\/a>, a national historic site allows visitors to step back in time and experience drills from French soldiers such as loading and firing a cannon. You can also learn and experience some of Nova Scotia\u2019s important maritime history by visiting the replica of a ship called the <a href=\"https:\/\/bluenose.novascotia.ca\/\">Bluenose<\/a>, which was a racing boat that remained undefeated for 17 years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Get creative<br \/>\n<\/strong>Organize your art supplies and get painting! Pick a location you\u2019ll visit on your trip and compare your artwork to photos of the location when you return. Consider painting the skyline trail in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.novascotia.com\/see-do\/outdoor-activities\/cape-breton-highlands-national-park\/1901\">Cape Breton Highlands National Park<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.novascotia.com\/places-to-go\/regions\/south-shore\/lunenburg\">Lunenburg<\/a>, a designated UNESCO World Heritage site.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pick a film<br \/>\n<\/strong>Watch a movie or TV show that was filmed in (or relates to) your destination.
