In July of 1943, Canadians and other Allied forces landed on the beaches of Sicily and fought a grueling but ultimately successful effort to invade Sicily. This engagement was the first successful effort by the Canadian forces in World War II and ultimately led to the invasion of Italy and the demise of Axis forces on continental Europe.
As the exclusive educational travel provider, join Explorica, and Canada Company, as we honour those who fought for our freedom on the 70th anniversary of this important campaign. Students will be encouraged to represent a fallen soldier at the Morning Roll Call, pay their respects during the Last Post Ceremony and take part in the recreation of the 1943 Pipe Concert originally performed by the Seaforth Highlanders.
Participants will also get the opportunity to experience the vibrant food, history, art and culture of Europe by exploring cities like Rome, Ortona, Athens and more.
